Pacey support

Found a number that looks wrong, got stuck, or have an idea? Here's how to reach us, and answers to common questions.

Get in touch

  • In the app: open the Feedback tab at the bottom of the screen. It's the quickest way, because it sends the app's version and your phone's system version along with your message. Add your email address if you'd like a reply.
  • By email: support@pacey.au. Handy if Pacey won't open, or you'd like to send a screenshot.

We reply within 2 business days to emails, and to feedback that includes your email address. Pacey is made by Dale, trading as Pacey, in Australia.

Bugs and ideas

Tell us which calculator you were using, what you typed, what you expected and what you saw instead. If you email, please include your iPhone model and iOS version (in Settings, General, About), and a screenshot if you can. Ideas are welcome too, including distances you race that are missing, though we can't promise to build every one.

Common questions

Which sports does Pacey cover?

Running, cycling, swimming, triathlon and Hyrox, each in the units its athletes use: running pace per kilometre or per mile, cycling speed in km/h or mph, and swim pace per 100 m or per 100 yd. Triathlon adds up the swim, the two transitions, the bike and the run. Hyrox adds up the eight 1 km runs and the eight stations.

How do I switch between kilometres and miles?

Tap Metric or Imperial at the top right of the Calculators screen, or of any sport's screen. One switch covers the whole app.

What you've typed is converted, not just relabelled: 10 km becomes 6.2 mi, 5:00/km becomes 8:03/mi and 32 km/h becomes 19.9 mph. Switching back restores exactly what you typed, and switching never changes a result.

In Hyrox, every run stays 1 km, and SkiErg and Rowing splits stay per 500 m on both settings, because the race and the machines are metric.

How do I type a pace or a time?

Paces: minutes and seconds with a colon, like 5:00. A dot or comma followed by two digits works as the colon, so 1.40 means 1:40. A whole number means minutes, so 5 means 5:00. Something like 5.5 isn't accepted, because it could mean 5:05 or 5:30.

Times (finish times, leg times, transitions, Hyrox stations and the Hyrox 1 km split): minutes:seconds or hours:minutes:seconds, like 2:00, 50:00 or 3:30:59. A plain number like 50 isn't accepted, because it could mean seconds or minutes.

Distances and speeds: plain numbers, with a dot or comma for decimals (6.2 or 6,2). Type 1500, not 1,500.

If something can't be read, a short message appears once you pause typing.

How are results rounded?

Times are rounded to the nearest second, never cut off: a marathon (42.195 km) at 5:00/km is 3:30:59. Distances and speeds show at most one decimal, so the marathon reads 42.2 km, but the sums use the exact distance.

Triathlon and Hyrox totals round each part to the nearest second before adding them up, so the total matches the whole-second times on screen. A time typed with tenths, like 1:30.5, counts as 1:31. The triathlon Full template uses a 42.2 km run, so a 5:00/km run there is 3:31:00, one second more than the Running screen's exact marathon.

Can Pacey work backwards from a target time?

For a single race, yes: pick the distance, type the finish time you're aiming for, and Pacey shows the pace or speed you need. It doesn't work out distances.

The Triathlon and Hyrox totals add up as you enter each part; they don't split a target total across the legs or stations. Hyrox Roxzone time and station weights aren't included.

Does Pacey work without a signal?

Yes. Every calculator works offline. Pacey's usage counts wait on your phone and are sent once it has a connection while it's open. Feedback you send waits on your phone and is sent the next time you open Pacey, or come back to it, with a connection.

Where are my inputs saved, and how do I clear them?

The distances, paces, speeds and times you type are saved on your phone, so each calculator shows what you last entered when you come back to it. They're never sent anywhere. Your Metric or Imperial choice is saved on your phone too; which one is in use, and which distance or race buttons you tap, are part of Pacey's usage counts, described below. Pacey doesn't keep a history, and nothing syncs between devices.

There's no reset button: to start again, delete what you typed. Deleting the app removes everything it saved.

How do I send feedback or report a bug?

Open the Feedback tab at the bottom of the screen, choose Bug, Idea or Other, write your message and tap Send. Add your email address only if you'd like a reply. If you're offline, it's saved on your phone and sent the next time you open Pacey with a connection.

Feedback comes with the app's version and build number and your phone's operating system and version, to help fix bugs, but no name or device ID. If you're testing Pacey through TestFlight, you can also take a screenshot in Pacey and tap Share Beta Feedback. Or email support@pacey.au.

What data does Pacey collect?
  • The distances, paces, speeds and times you type stay on your phone.
  • To decide what to improve, Pacey counts how it's used: when it's opened, or returned to after five minutes or more away, which calculators are opened, which distance or race buttons are tapped, which kinds of value you type (a pace or speed, or a time, but never the value itself), and when the units are switched. Opens, returns and unit switches also record whether Metric or Imperial is in use. The counts never include anything you type.
  • Each count carries a random number that Pacey makes the first time it runs and keeps on your phone, so we can tell how many different people use Pacey. It isn't your name, your email or anything about your phone's hardware. Each count also carries the time it happened, a random number for that count, a random number for that session (a new one each time the app is opened, or returned to after five minutes or more away), the app's version and build, your phone's operating system and version, and whether it's a developer's test copy of the app.
  • If you use the Feedback tab, we receive your message and whether it's a bug, an idea or something else, the app's version and build, your phone's operating system and version, the time you sent it, and your email address only if you give one.
  • If you email us, we receive your email address and any name it shows, your message and anything you attach. Pacey's email is Apple's iCloud Mail, which may store it outside Australia. We use it to reply to you and to fix or improve Pacey, and delete it, and our replies, on request.
  • Usage counts and feedback are stored with Supabase, a database service, in Sydney, Australia. Only Pacey can read them. Supabase logs each request the app makes, including the internet address it came from and the approximate location worked out from it, to run and protect its service. We can see those logs for 7 days, but don't use them to work out who or where anyone is, and the address isn't stored with the counts or feedback.
  • If you test Pacey through TestFlight, Apple automatically shares crash reports and basic usage information with us, plus any feedback you send through TestFlight. If you joined through the public link, that doesn't include your name or email.
  • Pacey doesn't show ads, sell or share your information, or track you across other apps or websites.
  • This website doesn't use cookies, analytics or ads.

The privacy policy has the full details.

How do I delete my data?
  • Deleting the app deletes everything it saved on your phone, including its random number, and stops the counting.
  • Usage counts already sent aren't stored with your name, email or internet address, and we don't try to work out whose they are, so we can't look up one person's counts to show or delete them. We'll delete individual counts once they're 24 months old and keep only totals.
  • To have feedback or an email you sent deleted, email support@pacey.au or send a message through the Feedback tab. For feedback, say roughly when you sent it and what it said, since we can't otherwise tell whose it is.
  • To have your TestFlight feedback or tester record deleted, ask us the same way and we'll delete it in App Store Connect.
Which devices does Pacey work on? Is there an Android version?

Pacey is an app for iPhone. It's being tested through Apple's TestFlight and isn't on the App Store yet. There's no Android version.

Anyone with an iPhone can join the test version:

Join the Pacey beta
  1. On your iPhone, install Apple's free TestFlight app from the App Store.
  2. Open this page on your iPhone, tap Join the Pacey beta, then tap Install.

It's a test version, so you may find rough edges: please tell us through the Feedback tab. Places in the beta are limited; if it's full, Apple's page will say so.

Does Pacey cost anything?

Pacey is free right now, with no ads.
